Target Information
Nuclear factor kB p65 (NF-κB p65) is encoded by the RELA gene and located on chromosome 11 in humans. Also known as RelA (v-rel avian reticuloendotheliosis viral oncogene homolog A), it belongs to the Rel family of proteins. NF-κB p65 forms heterodimers with p50 or p52 subunits and plays a crucial role in transcriptional regulation, particularly in immunoglobulin kappa gene expression in mature B-lymphoid cells. Activation occurs via TNFα-induced phosphorylation of IKK, leading to IκB degradation and NF-κB nuclear translocation.
