MA1-860 detects Her-3 from human and mouse samples.
It has been successfully used in FACS, immunoprecipitation, immunohistochemical, immunofluorescence, and ELISA procedures.
By immunoprecipitation, this antibody detects a ~185 kDa protein representing Her-3 from human tissue extracts.
MA1-860 immunizing peptide corresponds to amino acid residues 1004–1016 of the human cytoplasmic domain of HER-3 protein.
Target Information
ErbB3 (c-erbB-3/HER-3) is a member of the type I family of growth factor receptors that bind ligands in the heregulin family.
ErbB3 is over-expressed in various tumors such as prostate, bladder, breast, stomach, pancreas, and colon.
Heregulin and EGF stimulate tyrosine phosphorylation of c-erbB-3 to varying extents.
The ErbB3 gene is located on human chromosome 12q13 and transcribed into a 6.2 kb mRNA, translated into a 160/180 kDa glycoprotein.
It encodes a transmembrane receptor tyrosine kinase that forms heterodimers with other EGF receptor family members, leading to activation of pathways for cell proliferation or differentiation.
Alternate splice variants encoding different isoforms of ErbB3 have been characterized, including one secreted isoform lacking the intermembrane region.
