Target Information
Type-VI intermediate filament (IF) protein that plays an essential cytoskeletal role within muscle cells. It forms heteropolymeric IFs with desmin and/or vimentin and interacts with cytoskeletal proteins such as alpha-dystrobrevin, dystrophin, talin-1, utrophin, and vinculin. These interactions link IFs to adherens-type junctions, including costameres, neuromuscular junctions, and myotendinous junctions in striated muscle cells.
