Target Information

This gene encodes a member of the IMD (IRSp53/MIM homology domain) family. Members of this family are divided into IRSp53-like and MIM-like groups based on the presence or absence of the SH3 domain.
The encoded protein contains a conserved IMD (F-actin bundling domain) at the N-terminus and a canonical SH3 domain near the C-terminus, classifying it as IRSp53-like.
It acts as a substrate for insulin receptor tyrosine kinase and binds to the small GTPase Rac, participating in signal transduction pathways that link plasma membrane deformation and actin cytoskeleton remodeling.
Overexpression promotes actin assembly and membrane protrusions in mammalian cells and is essential for potent actin assembly complex formation during EHEC (Enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli) pedestal formation.
