Target Information
ARHGAP20 is a potent GTPase-activating protein (GAP) that converts Rho-type GTPases into an inactive GDP-bound state. It contains a pleckstrin homology (PH) domain, a Ras-associating domain, a Rho-GAP domain, and two Annexin-like (ANXL) repeats.
ARHGAP20 acts as a downstream target of Rap1, promoting neurite outgrowth through Rho inactivation in a Rap1-dependent manner. It functions as a tumor suppressor gene, often inactivated by deletion in breast cancer or by chromosomal translocation in B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
Reports suggest its involvement in cytoskeletal rearrangements and cell signaling during spermatogenesis. It is predominantly expressed in human brain, liver, ovary, and spinal cord, with lower expression in lymph nodes and fetal liver.
