Target Information
SOX9는 Sertoli 세포의 성 결정 및 분화에 중요한 역할을 하며, 연골 형성(chondrogenesis)에 관여하여 관련 유전자의 발현을 조절하는 전사인자로 작용합니다. 이 유전자의 전좌는 campomelic dysplasia를 유발할 수 있습니다.
SOX9는 태아의 미분화 생식선에서 고환 형성에 관여하며, 척수 발달 과정에서 neuron-glia 전환의 주요 분자 요소입니다. 정상 발달 중에는 전립선 상피가 간엽으로 성장하도록 유도하고, luminal epithelium의 발달과 유지에 필요한 기저세포 지지를 제공합니다. 이러한 기능은 전립선암에서 종양 성장과 침윤을 지원하는 방향으로 전환될 수 있습니다. 또한 SOX9는 신경능선 전구세포의 형성과 다양한 신경능선 유래 세포의 발달을 조절하며, 멜라닌 생성에도 관여합니다. Northern blot 분석 결과, 성인 고환, 심장, 태아 뇌에서 발현이 확인되었습니다.
