• Cross-reacts with bacteria, mouse, leech, porcine, and chicken GM-CSF.
• For dilution, use a buffer containing carrier protein (e.g., PBS with 1% BSA) or neutral media containing 10% FCS.
• Freeze aliquots at -70°C.
• Sterile-filtered through a 0.2 µm filter.
• Reconstitute with 0.5 mL of distilled water.

Target Information

The GM-CSF gene encodes a cytokine that regulates the production, differentiation, and function of macrophages and granulocytes. The active form exists as a homodimer in the extracellular space.
This gene is located in a cluster at chromosome region 5q31, associated with interstitial deletions in 5q- syndrome and acute myelogenous leukemia. Other genes in this cluster include interleukins 4, 5, and 13.
The gene promotes tissue inflammation, and elevated levels have been observed in SARS-CoV-2 infected patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome.
Mice lacking this gene or its receptor develop pulmonary alveolar proteinosis.
