Periplakin은 케라티노사이트 내 데스모좀 및 각질화된 외피의 구성 요소로, N-말단은 세포막과 상호작용하고 C-말단은 중간 필라멘트와 결합합니다. Rod 도메인을 통해 envoplakin과 복합체를 형성하며, cornified envelope과 desmosome 및 intermediate filament 간의 연결 역할을 할 수 있습니다. 또한 AKT1/PKB 단백질과 상호작용하여 AKT1 신호 전달 경로에서 위치 신호 역할을 할 가능성이 있습니다.
