Target Information
MORF4L2 is a protein-coding gene and a component of the NuA4 histone acetyltransferase complex, which is involved in transcriptional activation of specific genes through acetylation of nucleosomal histones H4 and H2A. This modification can alter nucleosome–DNA interactions and promote binding of modified histones with transcriptional regulators.
The NuA4 complex participates in oncogene-mediated growth induction, tumor suppressor-mediated growth arrest, replicative senescence, apoptosis, and DNA repair.
Additionally, MORF4L2 is part of the MSIN3A complex, which represses transcription through histone deacetylation.
