PPARA (peroxisome proliferator activated receptor alpha) ligand binding domain is a 59.40 kDa recombinant human protein (amino acids 192–468) expressed as a GST-tagged fusion protein in baculovirus-infected insect cells.
PPAR alpha-LBD was expressed and purified in the absence of exogenous ligands, making it ideal for ligand binding and coregulator displacement studies.

Peroxisome proliferators are non-genotoxic carcinogens that act through nuclear hormone receptors called peroxisome proliferator activated receptors (PPARs). These ligand-dependent intracellular proteins regulate transcription of specific genes by binding to DNA response elements after ligand activation.
PPARs are activated by compounds such as clofibric acid, nafenopin, and WY-14,643, as well as certain fatty acids. They can induce transcription of acyl coenzyme A oxidase and cytochrome P450 (CYP450) A6.
PPARs, like other nuclear hormone receptors, heterodimerize with retinoid X receptor (RXR) alpha.
