Target Information

Glra4는 glycine receptors (GlyR) 계열에 속하는 cys-loop형 리간드 개폐 이온 채널로, glycine의 억제 효과를 매개합니다. GlyR은 중추신경계 전반에 분포하며, 특히 해마, 척수, 뇌간에 풍부합니다.
Glycine receptor는 chloride channel로, glycine, taurine, β-alanine에 의해 활성화됩니다. Glra4는 신경 흥분성의 하향 조절에 관여하며, 억제성 시냅스 후 전류 생성에 기여합니다.
Glra4 유전자는 neurotransmitter-gated ion-channel ligand binding domain을 가진 단백질을 암호화하며, 망막 glycine receptor의 서브유닛과 유사한 마우스 단백질과 높은 상동성을 가집니다.
GLRA4 관련 질환으로는 Pelizaeus-Merzbacher Disease가 보고되어 있습니다.
