PEP-188 is a 16 amino acid synthetic peptide. The sequence of this peptide is (amino to carboxy terminus: C N (1411) R L R S E (pS) I A F I E E S K (NH2) (1425).

This peptide may be used for neutralization and control experiments with the polyclonal antibody that reacts with this product, catalog # PA1-032. Using a solution of peptide of equal volume and concentration to the corresponding antibody will yield a large molar excess of peptide (~70-fold) for competitive inhibition of antibody-protein binding reactions.

Target Information

NOS activity requires homodimerization as well as three cosubstrates (L-arginine, NADPH and O2) and five cofactors or prosthetic groups (FAD, FMN, calmodulin, tetrahydrobiopterin and heme). Several distinct NOS isoforms have been described and been shown to represent the products of three distinct genes. These include two constitutive Ca2+/CaM-dependent forms of NOS, including NOS1 (also designated ncNOS) whose activity was first identified in neurons, and NOS3 (also designated ecNOS), first identified in endothelial cells.
