Target Information
DYRK3 belongs to the DYRK family of dual-specificity protein kinases that catalyze phosphorylation of serine/threonine and tyrosine residues. Members of this family share structural similarity but differ in substrate specificity, suggesting involvement in distinct cellular functions.
DYRK3 acts as a negative regulator of EPO-dependent erythropoiesis and may limit red cell production during stress erythropoiesis. It also inhibits cell death due to cytokine withdrawal in hematopoietic progenitor cells, possibly by regulating CREB/CRE signaling.
