Target Information
Uteroglobin is a member of the Secretoglobin superfamily, also known as Clara cell phospholipid-binding protein. It is a multifunctional protein with anti-inflammatory and anti-tumorigenic properties, binding small hydrophobic molecules such as phospholipids and prostaglandins. This non-glycosylated protein is highly expressed in pre-implantation embryos and secreted by non-ciliated Clara cells in pulmonary airways and other epithelia. Members of the Secretoglobin family are small secretory homo- or heterodimers with high structural conservation. Uteroglobin is involved in sequestering pro-inflammatory mediators and carcinogens, and may inhibit cell migration, invasion, platelet aggregation, and T cell differentiation.
