Target Information
The KIF13A gene encodes a kinesin family microtubule-based motor protein involved in endosome positioning.
It directs mannose-6-phosphate receptor-containing vesicles from the trans-Golgi network to the plasma membrane and maintains the steady-state distribution of late endosomes/lysosomes.
KIF13A is also required for the translocation of FYVE-CENT and TTC19 during cytokinesis and plays a role in melanosome maturation.
Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
