Target Information
This gene encodes a C2H2 zinc finger protein with transactivation and DNA-binding activities. It has anti-proliferative properties and is thought to function as a tumor suppressor. Overexpression during fetal development is associated with transient neonatal diabetes mellitus (TNDM). The gene is imprinted with preferential paternal expression in many tissues, though biallelic expression can occur in peripheral blood leukocytes. Tissue-specific imprinting results from variable promoter utilization, and multiple transcript variants exist encoding two isoforms.
