Kallikreins are a subgroup of serine proteases with diverse physiological functions. Many kallikreins are implicated in carcinogenesis and may serve as potential cancer or disease biomarkers.
KLK10 is one of fifteen kallikrein subfamily members clustered on chromosome 19. The encoded protein is secreted and may play a role in tumor suppression in breast and prostate cancers. Alternate splicing produces multiple transcript variants encoding the same protein.
