Target Information

CTCF (CCCTC-binding factor) is a ubiquitously expressed nuclear phosphoprotein with 11 zinc finger domains. It plays multiple roles in gene regulation, including transcriptional repression and activation, gene silencing, chromatin insulation, and regulation of imprinted sites. CTCF interacts with DNA at the CCCTC motif and can recruit HAT- and HDAC-containing complexes to modulate transcriptional activity.

It is involved in the regulation of genes such as APPB, c-myc, Pax6, and IRAK2, contributing to chromatin organization and genomic imprinting (e.g., IGF2 and H19 loci). Mutations in CTCF have been associated with various cancers, including breast, prostate, and Wilms’ tumors.
