Target Information
Cystatin C는 type 2 cystatin superfamily에 속하는 강력한 cysteine proteinase 억제 단백질로, 내인성(lysosomal cathepsins) 및 병원성 단백질분해효소를 모두 억제합니다. 약 13 kDa의 분비 단백질로 모든 인간 핵세포에서 발현되며 생물학적 체액에서 높은 농도로 존재합니다. Cystatin C의 변화는 죽상동맥경화증, 아밀로이드 혈관병증, 심근경색 등 다양한 심혈관 질환과 관련이 있으며, 낮은 분자량 덕분에 신부전의 바이오마커로도 활용됩니다.
