Target Information
TET3 is a member of the ten-eleven-translocation (TET) family of genes and acts as a methylcytosine dioxygenase that converts methylcytosine to 5-hydroxymethylcytosine. It is highly expressed in hematopoietic cells. Unlike TET2, mutations in TET3 have not been observed in myeloid malignancies. TET3 is involved in demethylation of zygotic DNA before the first mitosis and plays a role in epigenetic reprogramming of paternal DNA after fertilization, as well as in somatic cell nuclear reprogramming during cloning.
