ZMPSTE24 유전자는 peptidase M48A 패밀리의 구성원으로, farnesylated prelamin A의 C-말단 잔기를 절단하여 성숙한 lamin A를 형성하는 2단계 번역 후 절단 과정에 관여하는 아연 금속단백분해효소를 암호화합니다. 이 유전자의 돌연변이는 mandibuloacral dysplasia 및 restrictive dermopathy와 관련이 있습니다.
