Target Information
BRD4 is a ubiquitously expressed nuclear phosphoprotein and a member of the BET protein family. It is the human homolog of mouse MCAP and consists of two N-terminal bromodomains, a central ET-domain, and several kinase-like motifs. BRD4 is expressed as two isoforms, with the longer variant containing a proline- and glutamine-rich C-terminal region. It acts as a chromatin-binding protein induced by growth stimuli, interacting with proteins such as RFC and SPA-1 to regulate cell growth and chromosomal dynamics during mitosis. BRD4 also serves as a cellular target for the E2 protein of papillomavirus.
