Target Information
TBK1 serine/threonine kinase is a member of the IKK family and is involved in NF-kappa B activation and IRF3 signaling. TBK1 acts as a ubiquitous transcription factor and plays an essential role in gene expression during immune and inflammatory responses. NF-kB mediates the expression of numerous genes in response to extracellular stimuli and is regulated by IKB proteins. Phosphorylation of IKB by the IKK complex leads to IKB degradation and NF-kB activation. TBK1 (also known as NAK or T2K) activates IKK beta through direct phosphorylation and functions upstream of NIK and the IKK complex. It is critical in protecting embryonic liver from apoptosis.
