Antibody detects endogenous levels of total MFAP5.

Target Information

This gene encodes a 25-kDa microfibril-associated glycoprotein rich in serine and threonine residues. It lacks a hydrophobic carboxyl terminus and proline-, glutamine-, and tyrosine-rich regions, which are characteristics of the related 31-kDa microfibril-associated glycoprotein (MFAP2). The similarity between MFAP5 and MFAP2 is confined to a central region of 60 amino acids where alignment of seven cysteine residues occurs. Structural differences suggest that MFAP5 has distinct functions from MFAP2.
