Target Information

LC3B (Autophagy Marker Light Chain 3B, MAP1A/MAP1B LC3 B) is encoded by the MAP1LC3B gene in humans. LC3B is associated with microtubule assembly and plays an important role in neurogenesis. It is a key marker in autophagy, a process for the degradation of cytoplasmic components.
During autophagy, LC3 isoforms undergo post-translational modifications and participate in the formation of autophagosomes that enclose cytoplasmic material for lysosomal degradation.
LC3B is a microtubule-associated protein mediating interactions between microtubules and cytoskeletal components and may be involved in cancer, aging, metabolic, neurodegenerative, and cardiovascular/pulmonary diseases.
