Target Information
The AMPK gamma-1 protein is a regulatory subunit of the AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) complex, which functions as a key energy sensor in cells. AMPK consists of alpha (catalytic), beta, and gamma (regulatory) subunits. When activated by metabolic stress, AMPK phosphorylates and inactivates key enzymes such as acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACC) and HMG-CoA reductase (HMGCR), thereby regulating fatty acid and cholesterol biosynthesis. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified for this gene.
