Target Information
Synaptobrevins, syntaxins, and SNAP25 are key components of a protein complex involved in docking and/or fusion of synaptic vesicles with the presynaptic membrane.
The VAMP1 gene encodes a member of the vesicle-associated membrane protein (VAMP)/synaptobrevin family.
Mutations in this gene are linked to autosomal dominant spastic ataxia 1.
Multiple splice variants exist, though some full-length forms have not been defined.
