Target Information
Epitope tags provide a method to localize gene products in various cell types, study protein topology and complexes, identify associated proteins, and characterize low abundance or poorly immunogenic proteins when specific antibodies are unavailable.
The V5 epitope tag is derived from the P and V proteins of Simian virus 5 (SV5), consisting of 14 amino acids (GKPIPNPLLGLDST). A shorter 9 amino acid version (IPNPLLGLD) is also used.
