NME1은 고전이성 세포에서 mRNA 발현이 감소되어 있는 것으로 확인된 유전자입니다. Nucleoside diphosphate kinase (NDK)는 A(NME1)와 B(NME2) 이소폼으로 구성된 헥사머 형태로 존재합니다. 이 유전자의 돌연변이는 공격적인 신경모세포종에서 발견되었으며, 두 가지 전사 변이체가 보고되었습니다. 또한 NME1과 인접한 NME2 유전자의 공동 전사로 인해 두 유전자의 서열을 결합한 융합 단백질(NME1-NME2)이 자연적으로 생성됩니다.
