Target Information
The PIAS (protein inhibitor of activated STAT) proteins are transcriptional coregulators involved in various cellular signaling pathways, including STAT, p53, and steroid hormone signaling. The PIAS family includes at least five conserved genes, including PIAS3. PIAS proteins regulate gene transcription and can act as SUMO E3 ligases. PIAS3 specifically binds to STAT3 following its activation. Overexpression of PIAS3 has been observed in several human cancers such as lung, breast, and brain tumors, but not in anaplastic lymphoma kinase-positive T-cell lymphomas, suggesting diverse roles in different tissues and cell types.
