Target Information
SIP1은 SMN 복합체(Survival of Motor Neuron complex)의 구성 단백질 중 하나로, SMN 단백질 및 여러 Gemin 단백질로 이루어져 있습니다. SMN 복합체는 핵 내의 ‘gems (gemini of coiled bodies)’라 불리는 구획에 위치하며, spliceosomal snRNPs의 조립 및 pre-mRNA 스플라이싱에 필요합니다. SIP1은 SMN과 직접 상호작용하며 SMN 복합체의 형성에 필수적입니다. 마우스 모델에서 SIP1 유전자의 결손은 snRNP 조립 장애와 운동 신경 세포 변성을 유발하지만, SIP1 mRNA의 감소는 정상적인 운동 축삭을 보였고, SMN mRNA의 감소는 비정상적인 축삭 성장을 보였습니다. 이는 SIP1이 SMN 복합체 외의 추가적인 역할을 가질 수 있음을 시사합니다.
