Product Specific Information
- Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
- Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
TIM3 (Hepatitis A virus cellular receptor 2, HAVCR2, T-cell immunoglobulin, mucin-domain containing-3) is a 281 amino acid long, type I Th1-specific cell surface glycoprotein expressed on terminally differentiated CD4+ Th1 and CD8+ Tc1 cells.
It consists of an IgV-like domain, a mucin-like domain in the extracellular region, and a conserved tyrosine phosphorylation motif in the cytoplasmic region.
TIM3 is involved in macrophage activation and induction of autoimmune diseases. It down-regulates aggressive Th1-mediated immune responses and facilitates the development of immune tolerance.
Pathological significance of TIM3 has been associated with experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE), a Th1-dependent autoimmune disease, enhancing disease severity in mice.
