PRMT2는 단백질의 아르기닌 잔기 구아니디노 질소를 메틸화하는 아르기닌 메틸트랜스퍼라아제입니다. STAT3, FBL, histone H4 등 다양한 단백질을 메틸화하며, NCOA2와 함께 안드로겐 수용체(AR) 및 에스트로겐 수용체(ER) 매개 전사활성을 보조합니다. 또한 PGR, PPARG, RARA의 전사활성을 강화하고, NF-κB 전사를 억제하여 세포자멸을 촉진할 수 있습니다. RB1 의존적 방식으로 E2F1의 전사활성을 억제하며 성장 조절에 관여할 가능성이 있습니다. [UniProt]
