Target Information
Members of the human serpin family regulate diverse serine and cysteine proteinases involved in processes such as fibrinolysis, coagulation, inflammation, cell mobility, differentiation, and apoptosis. Most serpins are secreted and reach physiological concentrations in blood and extracellular fluids, while a subset (ov-serpins) resides intracellularly. SERPINB13 (also known as Headpin) is a novel serpin underexpressed in squamous cell cancers of the oral cavity and is normally expressed in oral mucosa, skin, and cultured keratinocytes.
