Target Information
MAP4K5 (KHS1) is a serine/threonine kinase belonging to the GCK family of kinases and acts as an upstream regulator of MAP kinase signaling pathways. Yeast SPS1/STE20 functions near the beginning of the MAP kinase signal cascades essential for yeast pheromone response. This kinase activates Jun kinase in mammalian cells, suggesting a role in stress response. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding the same protein have been described for MAP4K5.
