Target Information
ATG5 (Autophagy Related 5)는 자가포식(autophagy)에 필수적인 단백질로, 세포 사멸 과정에도 중요한 역할을 한다. 또한 산화 손상 후 미토콘드리아 품질 관리, 선천적 항바이러스 면역 반응의 음성 조절, 림프구 발달 및 증식, MHC II 항원 제시, 지방세포 분화 등의 다양한 세포 과정에 관여한다.
ATG12와의 결합 후 자가포식소체(autophagosome) 형성에 참여하며, FADD 단백질과 상호작용하여 자가포식성 세포사멸을 유도한다. 또한 RIG-I 및 VISA(IPS-1)와 같은 단백질과 결합하여 type I interferon 생성을 억제하고 바이러스 복제를 허용한다.
ATG5 이상은 운동실조(spinocerebellar ataxia) 등의 질환과 관련이 있다.
