BATF2 (basic leucine zipper transcription factor, ATF-like 2)는 274 아미노산으로 구성된 단백질로, 핵에 위치하며 bZIP 도메인을 포함하고 있어 전사 조절에 관여할 가능성이 있습니다.
BATF2 유전자는 인간 염색체 11에 위치하며, 다양한 스플라이싱 이소폼으로 발현됩니다. 염색체 11은 약 1억 3,500만 염기쌍과 약 1,400개의 유전자를 포함하며, 유전자 및 질병 관련성이 높은 영역으로 알려져 있습니다.
염색체 11에 위치한 Atm 유전자는 DNA 이중 가닥 절단 후 세포주기 정지와 세포사멸 조절에 중요한 역할을 하며, 돌연변이는 ataxia-telangiectasia를 유발합니다.
HBB 유전자의 변이는 겸상적혈구빈혈증과 지중해빈혈을, WT1 유전자의 변이는 Wilms 종양, WAGR 증후군, Denys-Drash 증후군과 관련이 있습니다.
