Target Information
The 90 kDa heat shock protein (Hsp90) family of molecular chaperones is a highly conserved group of proteins with important physiological roles. Hsp90 is involved in numerous cellular processes, particularly in signal transduction.
TRAP1 (Tumor Necrosis Factor Receptor-Associated Protein 1) is a homolog of Hsp90 and is associated with various proteins involved in diverse cellular functions.
Immunofluorescence studies show that TRAP1 localizes to the mitochondria of mammalian cells, and its mitochondrial targeting sequence suggests it functions as a mitochondrial matrix protein.
