Target Information
Kallikreins are a subgroup of serine proteases with diverse physiological functions. Many kallikreins are implicated in carcinogenesis and may serve as biomarkers for cancer and other diseases.
This gene, one of fifteen kallikrein subfamily members located on chromosome 19, encodes a protein potentially involved in proteolytic cascades in the skin and may serve as a biomarker for ovarian cancer.
Alternate splicing of this gene results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms.
