This antibody recognizes an extracellular epitope of CD140a / PDGF-RA, the 170 kDa alpha chain of platelet-derived growth factor receptor, which is widely expressed on a variety of mesenchymal-derived cells and plays pro-proliferative or anti-proliferative roles in various tumors.
Target Information
PDGFRA is a cell surface receptor tyrosine kinase that binds members of the platelet-derived growth factor family. These growth factors act as mitogens for cells of mesenchymal origin. The identity of the growth factor bound to a receptor monomer determines whether the functional receptor is a homodimer or heterodimer composed of both platelet-derived growth factor receptor alpha and beta polypeptides. Knockout mouse studies indicate that PDGFRA is crucial for kidney development, as heterozygous mice exhibit defective kidney phenotypes.
