Target Information
SIRT7 is a member of the sirtuin family of proteins, homologous to the yeast Sir2 protein. Members of this family are characterized by a sirtuin core domain and are grouped into four classes, with SIRT7 belonging to class IV.
While the functions of human sirtuins are not yet fully determined, yeast sirtuin proteins are known to regulate epigenetic gene silencing and suppress recombination of rDNA. Studies suggest that human sirtuins may act as intracellular regulatory proteins with mono-ADP-ribosyltransferase activity.
