LOXL3는 lysyl oxidase 유전자 패밀리에 속하는 단백질로, 결합 조직의 생합성에 필수적인 구리 의존성 아민 산화효소를 암호화합니다. 이 효소는 콜라겐과 엘라스틴의 교차 결합 형성을 촉진하며, C-말단 영역의 보존된 서열은 아민 산화효소 활성을 유지하는 데 충분합니다. N-말단은 다양성이 높아 각 패밀리 구성원이 발달 조절, 노화, 종양 억제, 세포 성장 조절 및 화학주성 등 추가적인 역할을 가질 수 있습니다.
