Target Information
The ATP1A1 gene encodes the alpha 1 subunit of Na⁺/K⁺-ATPase, a P-type cation transport ATPase responsible for maintaining electrochemical gradients of Na⁺ and K⁺ ions across the plasma membrane. These gradients are vital for osmoregulation, sodium-coupled transport, and electrical excitability in nerve and muscle cells. Na⁺/K⁺-ATPase consists of a catalytic alpha subunit and a glycoprotein beta subunit. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified for this gene.
