Target Information
CD13 (ANPEP) is a 150–170 kDa type II transmembrane zinc-binding ectopeptidase expressed on various cell types. It catalyzes removal of neutral amino acids from small peptides, activating or inactivating bioactive peptides. CD13 plays roles in extracellular matrix degradation, antigen processing, and signal transduction, and is involved in inflammatory responses, intercellular contact regulation, cell motility, and vascularization. Expression is associated with poor prognosis in carcinomas and protection of leukemic cells against apoptosis. CD13 also functions as an aminopeptidase enzyme and serves as an alpha receptor for coronavirus.
