Target Information
CACNA1D (also known as PASNA, SANDD, or CaV1.3) encodes the alpha-1D subunit of voltage-dependent calcium channels. These channels mediate calcium ion entry into excitable cells and are involved in muscle contraction, hormone and neurotransmitter release, and gene expression. Calcium channels are multisubunit complexes composed of alpha-1, beta, alpha-2/delta, and gamma subunits. The alpha-1 subunit forms the channel pore, while auxiliary subunits regulate activity. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
