Target Information
FBJ murine osteosarcoma viral oncogene homolog, commonly known as Cellular proto-oncogene Fos (c-Fos), belongs to the Fos transcription factor family and is encoded by the C-FOS gene located on chromosome 14.
c-Fos heterodimerizes with c-Jun to form the Activator Protein-1 (AP-1) transcription factor, regulating transcription of several genes involved in cellular signal transduction, proliferation, and differentiation.
It is phosphorylated at multiple sites by various stimuli such as growth factors and insulin. The ERK MAPK kinase phosphorylates Threonine 232, influencing c-Fos localization to the nucleus and transcriptional activity.
