Target Information
Tumor necrosis factor α-induced protein 8-like 1 (TNFAIP8L1), also known as TNFα-IP 8L1, is a 186 amino acid protein belonging to the TNFα-IP 8 family.
Members of this family are induced by nuclear factor-κB (NFκB) and tumor necrosis factor (TNF), with TNF induction dependent on NFκB activation.
TNFα-IP 8 proteins act as negative mediators of apoptosis and may play roles in tumor progression. They suppress TNF-mediated apoptosis by inhibiting caspase-8 activity, preventing BID cleavage and caspase-3 activation.
