Surfactant protein D (SP-D)는 폐 상피세포에서 합성 및 분비되며, C-type lectin 계열의 group III에 속합니다. 이 그룹의 단백질은 삼중 나선형 콜라겐 유사 구조로 연결된 다중 구형 ‘head’ 영역을 갖습니다. SP-A, mannan-binding protein, conglutinin, collectin-43 등이 같은 그룹에 속하며, 다양한 세포에서 발견되는 C1q 수용체에 결합할 수 있습니다. SP-D와 SP-A는 폐포 대식세포의 산소 라디칼 생성 활성화를 촉진하는 것으로 알려져 있습니다.
