Target Information

Neuroglycan C (CSPG5) is a transmembrane chondroitin sulfate proteoglycan expressed exclusively in the central nervous system. NGC gene expression is developmentally regulated and can be altered by psychostimulant addiction or nerve injury.
Its core protein features a unique multidomain structure distinct from other proteoglycans and undergoes post-translational modifications such as phosphorylation and glycosylation.
Neuroglycan C acts as a part-time proteoglycan, transitioning between proteoglycan and non-proteoglycan forms during cerebellum and retina development.
Evidence suggests its involvement in neuronal circuit formation within the CNS.
