Target Information

Members of the Dynamin family include GTPase, microtubule-associated proteins involved in cellular trafficking such as microtubule bundling and endocytosis.
Mx1 (also known as MxA) is an interferon-induced protein conferring resistance to influenza A virus and vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV), indicating an antiviral role.
Mx1 shares 63% sequence identity with Mx2 (also known as MxB), which lacks antiviral activity. Mx2 is localized at the cytoplasmic face of nuclear pores and is not interferon-dependent. It may regulate the efficiency or kinetics of nuclear import, a function possibly derived from its antiviral relatives.
